Wools-Cobb a standout at Brookwater

The second staging of the Hills International Australian Junior Open has been completed at the Brookwater Golf and Country Club near Ipswich with Sunshine Coast golfer Shae Wools-Cobb taking out the overall male honours with a four round total of 225, his effort all the more meritorious given his horror start in Tuesday's opening round.

Wools-Cobb opened with a six over par ten at his very first hole and through four holes on day one he was a massive 8 over. He recovered to shoot 78 and then added rounds of 74 and 73 to win not only the overall title by two shots over Japan's Naoki Sekito but the 17 years and under title also.

The Hills College's Anthony Quayle won the 18 to 20 years division but he would have finished only in a share of 4th in the overall as the younger players produced some great golf over the demanding Brookwater layout.

Japan's Yui Sekito won the under 15 age group division for the boys.

The overall Girls winner was China's Meng Lin who was an eight shot winner over her fellow Chinese golfer, Jia Xin Lin.

Lin also won the 17 and Under Division.

Singaporean Jen Goh won the 18 - 20 girls division although her score was eleven shots behind than that of the overall winner.

Nine countries were represented in the event which is building the base to develop into one of the more significant junior amateur tournaments in the Asia Pacific region.
