Web.Com Tour finals underway

Sam Saunders leads the opening event of the Web.Com Tour finals, the Hotel Fitness Championship at the Sycamore Country Club in Fort Wayne in Indiana by two shots over a group of four players, the 28 year old grandson of Arnold Palmer chasing a place on the PGA Tour for the first time.

The four events of the final series provide the opportunity for twenty five players to earn 2015 PGA Tour cards although another twenty five players in the field for those events are assured of a card through the 2014 Web.Com Tour.

The twenty five players already guaranteed status on next year's PGA Tour are playing in order to determine their ranking while the other twenty five players are up for grabs. Those players already assured will have their earnings from the regular season added to their finals totals ensuring their season long efforts do not go unrewarded.

Greg Chalmers leads the Australians in this week's event, the PGA Tour player in 2014 currently in 11th position at the halfway stage.

Steve Allan and Scot Gardiner are 24th, Bronson La Cassie and Ashley Hall 35th, Steve Alker and Rod Pampling 41st James Nitties 50th and Alistair Presnell and Mathew Goggin 64th.

Missing the cut were Scott Hend, Adam Crawford, Cameron Percy and Aron Price.
