India’s S.S.P. Chawrasia has retained his first-round lead at the UBS Hong Kong Open by adding a second round of 66 to his opening 65 and he now leads by two over South African Thomas Aiken.

Wade Ormsby continued his recent improvement with a second consecutive 68 to be in a share of 7th position and five from the lead and lead the Australians.

Terry Pilkadaris is in 26th position while former winners Sam Brazel and Scott Hend are 38th (Hend rebounding from his opening 73 with a round of 67 today) and Scott Barr just made the cut in 57th place.

Chawrasia is searching for his first European Tour title outside of his homeland

“It was a great round today, said the 39 year old.  “I was five-under at one time but then three-putted 14. I hit a good tee shot, good second shot to within 10 feet. My first putt went pass the hole by about three feet and I continued to miss from there. But still, it's a good score.

“I'm happy. I think the greens are very fast here and a little bit windy, of course.  That's why I think the players are struggling. I'm just following my game plan.  Same thing, I'm playing last two days, exactly the same strategy. I don't want to change anything.  I’m feeling more confident today than yesterday.”

Pre-tournament favourites Justin Rose and Sergio Garcia are at 3 under and even par respectively and have a lot of work to do over the weekend if they are to feature in the final calculations.
