Australia has achieved a clean sweep of golf's individual gold medals at the Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires with Karl Vilips and Grace Kim taking out the men's and women's stroke play events respectively.

Vilips, 17, finished the 54-hole event at Hurlingham Club in the Argentinian capital at 4 under after rounds of 69, 68 and 69 on the par-70 layout to win by two shots from American Akshay Bhatia and five ahead of bronze medallist Jerry Ji of The Netherlands.

While 17-year-old Kim was equally brilliant on her way to a three-shot victory.

The New South Wales teenager fired rounds of 71, 69 and 69 to finish at 1 over ahead of Italian Alessia Nobilio and Yuka Saso of The Philippines.

Vilips is no stranger to major international competition having represented the International Team at last year's Junior Presidents Cup while Kim competed in February at the Women's Australian Open in Adelaide.

Kim is a 2018 recipient of the Karrie Webb Scholarship - a partnership between Golf Australia and Karrie Webb - and her gold medal-winning performance drew praise from the 7-time major champion.
