Victoria cruising at Interstate Series

The Victorian Men's interstate team are set to claim their second consecutive Interstate Series title after moving to a six match lead from South Australia following the fourth round at the Peninsula Country Club in Victoria.

Victoria was too strong for South Australia winning the contest eight matches to three.

Daniel Beckmann remains undefeated in the series with a 7&6 afternoon victory in his singles match over South Australia's, Max McCardle. In the morning foursome match the formidable combination of Beckmann and Bryden Macpherson were again successful, disposing of South Australia's top order pair of Max McCardle & Jordan Sherratt, 3&2.

Beckmann and Macpherson are yet to lose a foursome match in this series and have been instrumental in extending Victoria's leading margin.

The Victorian middle order was again impressive with Kieran Pratt, playing at number 4, winning his match against South Australia's, Chris Austin, 3&1, Craig Hasthorpe accounted for Chris Brown 2&1, Rory Bourke was 2 up over Tom Bond, whilst Terry Vogel won his encounter 3&2 over Daniel Speirs. South Australia's number 3, Stephen Speirs, overcame Luke Bleumink, 3&1.

In the top-order singles matches with Queensland against Western Australia, Jason Scrivener had an impressive win over Daniel Nisbet, 1-up, whilst Matt Jager was too strong for Tim Hart, winning that match 6&4.

Michael Raseta playing the top order for New South Wales won his match against Ryan McCarthy, 1-up, whilst Michael Smyth accounted for Kalem Richardson, 3&2.

The standings moving into the final rounds has Victoria undefeated at 29 1/2 matches, six matches ahead of its nearest rival, South Australia at 23 1/2 matches. Queensland moved into 3rd place after defeating Western Australia, 6&5, to be 1 1/2 matches ahead of Tasmania. New South Wales is currently in 5th position after defeating Tasmania, 7&4, whilst Western Australia is yet to secure a contest.
