US Open holds no Barr for Scott

Australian golfer Scott Barr has earned a place in the US Open field following the Japan Golf Tour's Sectional Qualifying for the event played over 36 holes in Ibaraki on Monday.

Barr finished in joint first position along with Korea's Doo-Hoon Kim and Japan's Kenichi Kuboya with Sang Bae-moon securing the fourth available spot at the second major of the year which gets underway on June 16th.

The 39 year old Barr, originally from Canberra but now based in Singapore, finished 47th at the Japan Tour School late in 2010 but will play few events with that level of status. He has struggled in six starts on the Asian Tour this season but now gets the opportunity to play the US Open for the first occasion.
