Queensland's Brad Kennedy has finished 4th behind first time winner, Rikuya Hoshino, at the Fujisankei Classic in Yamanishi in Japan, the 44 year old moving to 8th on the 2018 Japan Tour money list with earnings of (equiv) $A420,000.

Canberra's Brendan Jones finished one shot behind, a bogey at his final hole a frustrating way to finish what had otherwise been a good recovery from a slow start to his final round.

Jones finished in a share of 6th place and the 14 time Japan Tour winner now finds himself in 16th place on this season's money list.

Hoshino's previous best finish in Japan had been when 5th at this season's Japan Golf Tour Championship but this week the 22 year old rising star led from start to finish and won by five over his fellow countryman Shugo Imahira.

Other Australians to finish the event were Scott Strange 25th, Won Joon Lee 45th and Matthew Griffin 50th.

Kennedy gets a further chance to improve his standing when he, along with fellow Australians Matthew Griffin and David Bransdon, compete in the knockout rounds of the ISPS Handa Match Play the first round of which is played on Wednesday September 5th.
