Australians Rhein Gibson and Cameron Percy have recorded 5th place finishes at the Web.Com Tour’s Panama Championship in Panama City, Panama, the pair finishing five shots behind the Canadian Michael Gligic who won his first Web.Com Tour title.

Gibson and Percy, both former PGA Tour players, have begun their Web.Com Tour season well with solid weeks in earlier events but this week’s finish will boost their standing in the ranking as they look to play their way into the top 25 by season’s end and get back to the PGA Tour in 2020.

Gibson is now 13th and Percy 17th on the money list following this week’s event.

Percy began the day two shots off the lead of Canadian Ben Taylor but could only manage a round of 1 over 71 on the demanding layout of the Panama Golf Club.

It was however a continuation of some good recent form which included a 5th place finish at the Australian Open in November.

Gibson improved his standing eight places in today’s final round of 68 and follows up his last start 8th place in Colombia with yet another good week.

Melbourne’s Brett Coletta finished 12th and Brett Drewitt 36th.

The Web.Com Tour now heads to Florida for the first event of the 2019 season on US soil before a one month break.
