THERE'S no question when it comes to marketing and advertising, Nike are at least as good as anyone in history.
And with two of golf's biggest names on their books it's no surprise they have produced some pretty entertaining ads involving Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy.
But their latest effort, a two minute documentary style clip called 'Ripple', has taken things to another level.
Released to universal acclaim this week the ad focuses on a young Rory following in the footsteps of his idol, the Tiger Woods of the late 1990's and early 2000's, as Woods sweeps all before him.
The ad reaches its crescendo with Rory finally achieving his dream and joining Woods, as an equal, on the first tee of a tournament.
Is it sappy? Yes. Corny? Yes. Almost too much? Yes. But in the end, not only does it work because it's really well done, but because it's true.
