In what is the final professional event of 2017, Australia’s Terry Pilkadaris finds himself in a share of 9th position through 36 holes of the Royal Cup in Pattaya in Thailand the 44 year old Melbournian just four shots from the joint leaders, Prom Meesawat and Shiv Kapur.

Pilkadaris’ second round of 68 was one of the better rounds of day two at the Phoenix Gold Golf and Country Club, the three time Asia Tour event winner (although not since 2005) well placed to challenge for the perfect finish to 2017.

Pilkadaris finished 46th on this year’s Asian Tour Order of Merit, although with only one top ten in the twenty-five events he has played on various tours in 2017 a good finish this week would be very welcome.

Scott Hend is the only other Australian in the field, although his second round of 77 has him in 62nd position at the halfway stage and a massive 13 shots from the lead.

The event, which finishes on Christmas Eve, does not have a cut and so all 78 players in the field get the chance over the final 36 holes to compete for some of the US$500,000 in prize-money.
