Surprise leader at Chile Classic

A man who has missed 15 of his last 19 cuts on the Web.Com Tour, Byron Smith, has the 36 hole lead at the Chile Classic in Santiago, the 32 year old former Pepperdine University star adding a round of 66 to his opening 65 to be at 13 under and one ahead of Argentine Jorge Fernandez-Valdes.

Peter Lonard, Ashley Hall, Cameron Percy and Alistair Presnell lead the Australians in a share of 38th position at 4 under and nine shots from the lead.

Gavin Coles and Adam Crawford also made the cut.
