South Korean Sung Hyun Park today rattled off a brilliant second round of 64 at the ANA Inspiration in Rancho Mirage in California moving her into a share of the halfway lead with first round leader Pernilla Lindberg of Sweden.

Park, who is in just her second season on the LPGA Tour already has two wins including a major (2017 Women’s US Open) to her name and her round today was made even more meritorious given an opening hole bogey before four birdies before the turn followed by a back nine of 31.

The round was three shots better than any other recorded on day two and she and Lindberg have opened up a three-shot lead over the in-form Jessica Korda who birdied three of her last four holes to move within striking distance.

Englishwomen Charley Hull and Jodi Ewart Shadoff are tied with American Amy Olson and Japan’s Ayakao Uehara in a share of 4th place and five shots from the lead.

Park missed the cut at last week’s KIA Classic, her first missed cut in 33 starts in LPGA Tour events but her consistency and brilliance returned today with yet another magnificent display.

"At the beginning of the year my performance wasn't as well as I had hoped it would be, but I just needed more time to practice," said Park referring to her slow start to the season. "So during the time of not making the cut last week I was able to get more practice in, so I feel really good about this week."

It was a word of warning to those who felt she might not have been at her peak entering the week.

Lindberg began her round slowly but through the middle of her round she was brilliant with five birdies in seven holes in that stretch and although perhaps boxing above her weight she gets her chance on day three to show just what she has when she plays in the final pairing with Park.

"I just feel great," said Lindberg who has yet to win on either the LPGA or LET Tours. "I feel like everything has been going my way for two days. I'm seeing the lines on the greens and have been bogey free so whatever I have  been doing these last two days I am going to just keep tracking along."

Sarah Jane Smith leads the Australians although she is in 41st place at 1 under and a massive 11 shots from the leaders.

Hannah Green is 55th after a round of 73 today and Minjee Lee just scrapped inside the cut-line at 1 over.
