Victorian Stephanie Bunque is the only Australian to have made it into the match-play phase of the 2018 US Women’s Amateur Championship at the Tom Fazio designed Golf Club of Tennessee near Nashville.

Bunque, who is the current Victorian Women’s Amateur Champion, added a second round of 69 to her opening 71 to be in a share of 22nd position.

The Victoria Golf Club member has played well in this summer's US amateur events including a 4th place at the Women’s Porter Cup and a 5th place finish at the Women’s North and South Championship.

The only other Australian into the field for women’s golf’s most significant amateur title was Sydney's Sophie Yip who struggled to a second round 76 to miss out on making the 64-strong match play draw.

Bunque only just secured a spot in the field after surviving a playoff for one of the five places available at her Sectional Qualifying venue in Michigan in July.
