An emphatic six shot victory over her fellow countrywomen, Christina Kim, has not only given American Stacy Lewis the Shoprite LPGA Classic in Galloway in New Jersey but has also earned the world number one title for the second time.

For Lewis it was her second win of the 2014 season, her 10th LPGA Tour lifetime victory and takes her career earnings beyond US$7 million.

Lewis now moves ahead of the lady who has been number one for over twelve months, Inbee Park, to take back the mantle of the game's leading player after Park had taken it from her in April of last year.

Lewis had the title for a month last year but her consistency has continued to be the hallmark of her game and this return to the top of the female game is fully deserved.

For Kim it was a welcome return also after struggles with injury for much of the early part of this season but also because she has overcome depression issues which plagued her in recent times.

Haeji Kang, Anna Nordvist, Jennifer Johnson and Gerina Piller tied for 3rd position.

Defending champion Karrie Webb tied for 8th
