Australians Brett Coletta and Cameron Percy have produced encouraging efforts early in their 2019 Web.Com Tour seasons, both players sharing 11th place at the completion of the Bahamas Greater Abaco Classic in Great Abaco in the Bahamas.

The event, which was completed this morning in heavy winds on Greater Abaco around 150 kilometres to the east of Florida, is the second tournament of the 27 event Web.Com Tour schedule and was won by Puerto Rico’s Rafael Campos.

Victoria’s Percy was well placed heading into today’s final round and after two early birdies he was tied for the lead. Things would come apart from that point on however with three consecutive bogeys followed by a double bogey at the 9th and Percy was on the back foot.

Another double bogey at the 11th cost him any chance of a high finish but there were encouraging signs for the 44 year old who has generally put together some good finishes in recent starts.

He finished 5th at the Australian Open in November and then in his opening event of the 2019 Web.Com Tour season he finished 16th last week in another event in the Bahamas.

Percy first played the Web.Com Tour in 2008, graduating to the PGA Tour in 2010 and has been between both tours since.

Coletta put together a strong final round of even par 72 in the blustery conditions and in his first season as a cardholder on the Web.Com Tour the former Queensland Open Champion has bounced back from a missed cut in last week’s opening event of the Web.Com Tour season.

New Zealander Steve Alker, who finished 4th last week, Rhein Gibson and Jamie Arnold tied for 17th this week, with Brett Drewitt and New Zealander Tim Wilkinson 52nd.

The Web.Com Tour will play its next event in Bogota in Colombia beginning on January 31st.
