Slocum's late bid for PGA Tour status

The Wyndham Championship at the Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro completed 36 holes this morning and the lead is shared by Heath Slocum and Scott Langley but their lead is a narrow one of just one shot over Brian Stuard, Nick Watney, Martin Lair and Andrew Svoboda.

Coming off the back of two consecutive missed cuts and without a PGA Tour top ten for more than two years, Slocum has found form at just the right time as he makes one last bid to retain his PGA Tour status and gain acess to the FedEx Cup playoffs.

Slocum is currently 158th on the FedEx Cup points table and likely needs a top three this week to be in inside the top 125 and in the field for the opening playoff event at the Barclays next week and amongst those who retain their full PGA Tour status.

Langley has no concerns in that regard being 81st on the list but after missing the cut at his last start he is back in from after only a few events of late.

Steven Bowditch 36th and Stuart Appleby 47th are the only Australians to make the cut, leaving Robert Allenby in 122nd on the cusp of the top 125 who make it to the FedEx Cup playoffs and Greg Chalmers, in 128th position, seemingly heading back to the Web.Com Finals in two weeks.
