Rory denies Scott Triple Crown on the 72nd

THE fairytale ending to Adam Scott's 2013 season was shattered on the last hole when the US Masters champion surrendered his one-shot Australian Open lead with a bogey and Rory McIlroy birdied to lift the Stonehaven Cup.

Scott led the tournament from the first round with his stunning 10-under par, course record 62 but put his approach to the 18th over the green and failed to get up-and-down.

Playing partner McIlroy capitalised and sunk his birdie putt to be crowned the 2013 Australian Open champion.
