Several Aussies at Dogwood Invitational

Several Australasians get the chance to tee it up a one of the more regarded events of the summer of amateur golf in the US when the Dogwood Invitational gets under way at the Druids Hill Golf Club near Atlanta.

Queenslanders, Viraat Badhwar, Cory Crawford, Sam Daley and Kade McBride will be joined by New South Welshmen, Travis Smyth and Zac Stolz, and New Zealanders Cameron Jones and Hayden Beard when the event gets underway on Thursday.

Smyth and Stolz both played well at the recent Rice Planters tournament with Smyth finishing 5th and Stolz 11th.

Former Australian Amateur Champion, Andrew Buckle, is the only Australian to have won the event, that win coming in 2002.

The event continues a series of events through June, July and August in the US, culminating in the US Amateur Championship in Atlanta in mid August.
