Second round resumes at Australian Open

The second round of the Australian Open is due to resume at 2.00pm after play was suspended at 8.35am this morning due to unplayable conditions.

Strong southerly winds of up to 60km/h on the exposed parts of the NSW Golf Club forced Tournament Officials to suspend play as greens became unplayable.

Overnight leader Stuart Appleby, opened with two pars on the 10th and 11th before play was suspended and will recommence on the 12th.

Winds continue to remain strong and conditions will be testing as organisers attempt to get the majority of the field through this evening.

Saturday's play will probably see the second round concluded to determine the cut of top 60 professionals and ties plus those amateurs at that score or better.
