Already assured of LPGA Tour Rookie of the year honours, South Korean star Sung Hyun Park looks set to ad yet another first season title to her name after taking a three-shot lead at the halfway mark of the CME Tour Championship in Naples in Florida.

The 2017 US Women's Open champion has opened up a four shot lead over Germany's Caroline Masson and joint first round leader Australian Sarah Jane Smith.

Not only Park in line for the US$500,000 winners cheque but if she does then she will also lock away another US1 million in bonuses for winning the Race to the Globe.

Park added a second round of 65 and even a bogey at her final hole today could not stop her from taking control of the season ending event. She had eagled the 17th hole to extend her lead to four before the final hiccup but she is the player to beat over the final 36 holes.

Masson has never finished better than 52nd in four attempts in this event but her round of 66 today moved her into a share of second with Smith, one clear of the 3rd placed Nelly Korda, Pernilla Lindberg, Madelene Sagstrom.

Smith added a second round of 69, continuing her ongoing improvement in 2017.

Minjee Lee is the next best Australian after Smith, her round of 71 having her in 25th position although eight shots from the lead with Katherine Kirk 55th.
