Gibson bounced back from a second round of 76 to record weekend rounds of 65 and 65 and finish in a share of 4th position in the final event of the year, earning enough to finish the season in 10th position and earn one of the twenty five cards available through the four event final series.
Gibson, who was born in Bendigo but was raised in Lismore in New South Wales before collegiate days in Oklahoma, finished 33rd in the regular season money list but has taken full advantage of the Finals to stake his claim for the right to play the PGA Tour.
The news was not so good for Steven Allan who by missing the cut in this weeks’ event slipped from 23rd to 30th and misses out on an opportunity to return to the PGA Tour.
Rod Pampling had earlier secured his 2016 PGA Tour card via the Web.Com Tour’s regular season.
New Zealander Tim Wilkinson regained his playing rights for the PGA Tour when he finished 24th this week and 20th overall to return to the PGA Tour where he played in 2015.
Wilkinson’s fellow New Zealander, Steve Alker, on the other hand finished 35th this week but has finished the Final series in 36th position.
