She might be the 244th ranked player in female professional golf but through two rounds of the Kia Classic at the Avira Golf Club in Carlsbad in California, 27 year old American, Dori Carter, leads a very strong field into the weekend.

Carter, whose last victory anywhere came on the Futures Tour in 2010, has only limited status on the LPGA Tour this season and has played Futures Tour events of late to keep her game ticking over, but today her round of 64 has given her a two shot lead over Stacy Lewis and Cristie Kerr.

Lydia Ko is in 22nd position following her round of 68 while Karrie Web also added a 68 to be 26th.

Julia Boland, Katherine Kirk and Sarah Jane Smith also made the cut.
