Porter defends in Georgia

The Nationwide Tour plays only its fifth event of the season this week when the South Georgia Classic presented by First State Bank and Trust Company is played at the Davis Love 111 designed Kinderlou Forest Golf Club in Valdosta in Georgia.

The tournament is being played for the fourth occasion and in 2011 it will be an Australian who defends the title. Last year Ewan Porter, one of the great enigmas in Australian golf, won the event over Jhonattan Vegas. Vegas went on to claim his PGA Tour card and has already won this year on the PGA Tour while Porter has not recorded a top twenty in his twenty six starts since.

It was a similar situation for Porter after his victory at the Moonah Classic in 2008 highlighting again what a significant talent he has but that he battles in putting it all together. When he does he is very good.

In addition to Porter other Australasians in alphabetical order who will play the event are Adam Blyth, Andrew Buckle, Gavin Coles, Stephen Dartnall, Nick Flanagan, Scott Gardiner, Josh Geary, Matthew Giles, Mathew Goggin, Mark Hensby, Bradley Iles, Won Joon Lee, Peter Lonard, David Lutterus, James Nitties, Alistair Presnell, Tim Wilkinson and Jake Younan-Wise
