PGA launch regional radio show

This Sunday the PGA of Australia will launch a weekly radio initiative aimed at promoting golf, PGA members and the hundreds of regional golf clubs dotted around Australia.

A one hour radio program customised for the Australian golf landscape, 'Swinging in the Sticks' will be aired on Sunday mornings initially on 33 regional stations throughout the east coast of Australia.

The program will run for 26 weeks and will also be podcast at www.pga.org.au to reach golfers Australia wide.

Hosted by Australian PGA member Mark Allen and Crocmedia's Andrew Lowther, the interactive program will tackle the latest news in golf with a particular focus on what's happening in our own backyard.

Profiling local club heroes and uncovering a few 'hidden gem' courses along the way, 'Swinging in the Sticks' will help the PGA support its regional PGA members and their local golf communities at the same time promoting golf to an extensive regional audience.

"Throughout Australia we have over 1.2 million golfers playing the game and over 70% of the courses they play are located in regional areas. The number of golfers we can directly reach through 'Swinging in the Sticks' is significant," said PGA CEO Max Garske.

"To be aired in a timeslot perfect for catching golfers on their way to the course, 'Swinging in the Sticks' will help the PGA communicate the value of local golf clubs within their communities and of course will also promote and support our PGA members."

The first episode of Swinging in the Sticks will be broadcast this Sunday 28th March, 2010.

A Podcast of the weekly program will be available each week on the PGA website from 8.00am Sunday morning, beginning this week.

The PGA will continue to work with show producer Crocmedia to take 'Swinging in the Sticks' into additional regional markets.

Swinging in the Sticks will be aired from 7.00 "“ 8.00 am Sunday morning in NSW and QLD with the exception of 4LG Longreach who will air from 8.00 "“ 9.00 am.
