Pampling Channels Happy Gilmore at PGA

Queenslander Rod Pampling combined a spin-off of Happy Gilmore with one of the worst shots ever captured on camera at a major championship in fading light on day two of the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow.

With players rushing to finish their rounds on Friday evening, Pampling came to the 18th tee at 14-over and apparently desperate to get a ball in play so that he and his playering partners - Thomas Pieters and Xander Schauffele - wouldn't have to return early Saturday morning to complete their round.

The result wasn't pretty for Pampling.

Under tournament rules, if one player's ball is in play on a hole and play is suspended due to darkness, the entire group has the option of completing the hole.

With both Pieters and Schauffele also comfortably missing the cut, they have Pampling to thank for helping them get an earlier flight out of North Carolina.
