Ormsby, whose best ever European Tour finish was at the 2006 New Zealand Open when he finished tied for second, continued his ongoing improvement in Europe after spending a season on the Asian Tour in 2013.
During 2013 he recorded his first ever win as a professional when successful in India and built enough confidence to allow him to regain his playing privileges for the European Tour via the Tour School late in the year.
In his six starts since earning the right to play in Europe again he has not missed a cut and the son of professional, Peter, and good friend of Adam Scott appears to be finally finding his feet in the professional ranks.
Ormsby played collegiate golf at the University of Houston before turning professional and has just gone quietly about his business but there is little doubt that a year on the Asian Tour in 2013 was just what he needed to rebuild his confidence.
The tournament was won by the Spain's Alejandro Canizares who despite a bogey at his final hole, still won by five over England's Andy Sullivan who was home in 29 to earn second place outright.
For the son of one of the trailblazers of Spanish golf on the European Tour, Jose Maria, it was his first European Tour victory in nearly eight years.
Spain's, Seve Benson, and Swede, Magnus Carlsson, tied for 3rd.
Amongst the other Australians, Brett Rumford was 11th and Richard Green 30th.
