There are only two changes from the team that played the same event in July of this year in Australia with David Burton (Nelson) and John Sanders (Christchurch) replacing Dave Headland and Murray Brown.
The tournament is another big event for Canterbury Golf to host and will follow the New Zealand Seniors Championship which will be staged at the Waitikiri Golf Club from February 9 - 11.
New Zealand will be looking to make amends for this year when they were defeated on The Pines at Sanctuary Cove Golf Club by 13.5 "“ 10.5 points.
Australia won the Foursomes by 3.5 to 2.5, the Fourball 4 "“ 2 and halved the singles six matches apiece.
Phil Aickin, the Operations Manager at New Zealand Golf, believed the New Zealand team should be very competitive on the familiar home course of Shirley.
"These players are still very competitive and I know they will prepare well to recapture this trophy," said Aickin. "The NZ Seniors is played just before the Sanctuary Cove Trophy so
the competitive edge should be there." The Sanctuary Cove Trophy is an annual Trans-Tasman tournament that began in 2007 for golfers aged 55 years and over.
In the five tournaments since 2007 Australia has won three titles and New Zealand two.
