NSW Amateur begins on Northern Beaches

The New South Wales Amateur Championship gets underway tomorrow (Wed 1st February) at the Mona Vale and Long Reef Golf Clubs on Sydney's northern beaches with the 32 successful qualifiers after the 72 holes of the Medal Competition advancing to the Amateur Championship beginning at the Elanora Country Club next Monday 6th.

The opening two rounds of the Medal Competition are alternated over the Mona Vale and Long Reef layouts before the leading 60 players and ties will contest the final 36 holes on Friday at the Mona Vale Golf Club which overlooks Mona Vale Beach.

Players expected to do well include last week's Lake Macquarie International Amateur Championship winner and runner-up Daniel Nisbet and Cameron Smith of Queensland, NSW's Matt Steiger and Jake Higginbottom, Australian Master of the Amateurs Champion Nathan Holman, Victorian, Todd Sinnott, Tasmanian, Ryan McCarthy and New Zealander Ben Campbell.
