Conditions on day three are absolutely perfect with no marine layer and temperatures expected to reach a high of the early 20's Celsius and only gentle on shore breezes early on before strengthening to around 15 kph before the leaders tee off.
Very few of the early starters were making an impression but such is the nature of this layout that those players able to put together a round of even par will make considerable progress especially given the course will strengthen as the afternoon progresses.
Of the Australians out amongst the early starters only Adam Scott was making any real impact. The Queenslander negotiated the opening few holes safely before a bogey at the 5th had him at 7 over for the tournament. He made a great par save at the 6th but then three putted the reachable par four 7th for par.
At the par three 8th however he hit a fine tee shot and converted for his first birdie of the day and his 7th of the week. He was back to where he started the day at 6 over and if he can find a way to add another birdie or two his hopes of a top ten finish or better tomorrow are not yet gone.
Rod Pampling and Jason Day were 1 and 2 over respectively for their round and at 8 over for the tournament they were in 51st position.
Leading Australian Alistair Presnell will tee off at 1.05 when he will play with Padraig Harrington.
