No luck for Curtis in Atlanta

West Australia Curtis Luck missed out on one of the four remaining places in the match play field at the US Amateur Championship at the Atlanta Athletic Club this morning.

As a consequence no Australians have made it to the match play phase of the amateur game's premiere event.

Luck was one of 17 players who were required to return to the golf course on Wednesday morning ahead of the first round of match play to fight out the battle for a place in the field but unfortunately he fell victim to the numbers game.

The US Amateur effectively brings to an end the summer of US Amateur golf events and many of the Australians involved will now return home or to their collegiate bases to prepare for the months ahead.

The next big event in world amateur golf is the World Amateur Team Championship in Karuizawa in Japan in September.
