It has not been a strong start for the five Australians in the final event of the 2018 LPGA Tour, the CME Tour Championship in Naples in Florida.

Katherine Kirk at 2 under and in a share of 25th place is the best of them, two shots ahead of LPGA Tour rookie, Hannah Green, while Minjee Lee is another shot back and tied for 43rd, Su Oh is 51st and Sarah Jane Smith after her good start yesterday battled to a round of 80 and is at 6 over and in 67th place in the 72 player field.

The event brings together the leading 72 players from the CME Race to the Globe money list with not only the US$2.5 million in prize-money up for grabs this week but additional bonuses from a season long points race.

The tournament is being led by Lexi Thompson who is three shots clear of Brittany Lincicome and Amy Olson.

Defending champion and pre-tournament favourite Ariya Jutanugarn is at 3 under and nine shots from Thompson’s lead.
