It was announced today that the World Group UK, Maxsen Capital Hong Kong and the world renowned resort group DUSIT INTERNATIONAL would construct the largest foreign investment resort in Australia and Queensland's history at Brookwater Golf Course at Springfield Lakes west of Brisbane. The facility will be operated under the flagship brand of Dusit Thani.

The announcement provides a great boost for the highly regarded golfing facility and perhaps opens the door for significant tournaments to be played at Brookwater in the years ahead.

The Isuzu Queensland Open is currently held at Brookwater as a Tier 2 event on the Australian schedule but the introduction of adjacent resort and accommodation facilities opens the door for even larger events at the highly regarded Greg Norman designed facility and provides an opening and perhaps the opportunity to take the Queensland Open to another level.

Dusit operates 24 luxury brands across Asia, the Middle East and the USA including such destinations as the Maldives, Dubai, California, Bangkok, Delhi and a large portfolio in Thailand.

They currently have an additional 31 projects in development, including major developments in China, and as part of their global expansion they have chosen Brisbane and Brookwater as their first destination in Australia.

Their choice of Brookwater is due primarily to the success of Queensland's number 1 ranked Greg Brookwater Golf Course and the growth of Greater Springfield and its superior master-planned outcomes.

Phase-A of the Dusit Thani Brookwater Golf & Spa Resort at First Residence will feature 168 Luxury Resort Apartments with Private Plunge Pools overlooking the prestigious Brookwater Golf Course, just some 30 minutes from the Brisbane CBD.

Managing Director of Oliver Hume Real Estate, Marcus Buskey said the resort would be a very exclusive and limited opportunity and represented a completely new style of luxury resort destination for Queensland, and was a testament to Brookwater Golf Homes now exceeding an average of $1m each.

The Resort will include a Recreation Club with Beach Style Lagoon Pools, Lap Pools, Children's Water Slides and Gymnasium with Café and Bridal Centre, Wedding Chapel and Event Function Area and man-made beach lagoon.

Central to the Resort will be the new Resort Clubhouse featuring 4 Signature Restaurants, Lobby Lounge, 24 hour Concierge Services, Executive Club, International Day Spa, major Conference, Convention and Exhibition Facilities, Retail, Alfresco Fresh Food Markets, Street Side Cafes and Boutique Retail options.

Investment in Phase-A is $110m, with an on completion investment in excess of $550m being the largest foreign invested resort in Australia's history.

Stage 1 is due to start construction early in 2015 and targeting a soft opening in the 3rd to 4th quarter of 2016.

On completion, the Resort will feature 520 Luxury Resort Apartments, International Tennis Stadium and Club designed to host major international tour events, Water Park & Family Club, Retail Emporium, Aquatic Centre designed to Commonwealth Games Standard and the "Starlight Convention Centre".

Speaking at a formal signing ceremony today Joint Managing Directors of Brookwater Resort Investments, Mr. Richard Turner and Mr. Jimmy Chan said, "Brookwater is an ideal location being Australia's only CBD Urban Golf & Spa Resort serviced by 2 international airports and a doorstep market of 2.4 million Brisbane residents making it a truly unique proposition.

The Queensland Government has recognized the economic benefits of Springfield investing in motorway duplications and high speed rail, making Brookwater only 20 to 25 minutes from the Brisbane CBD.

There is a booming population in Springfield and Brookwater of 27,000 resident and the Australian Federal Government "“ Department of Treasury has recognized the investment as an economic boost to jobs and the region generally by granting Foreign Investment Approval to the Maxsen World Group Joint Venture.

Mr. Jimmy Chan CEO of Maxsen Capital Hong Kong and the Joint Venture Partner said, "We are very excited to bring such an iconic brand as Dusit to Australia."

Dusit Vice Chairman Giovanni Angilini said "we are very impressed with the master-planned location of Brookwater to launch out first ever presence Australia. We believe that this new brand entry to the Australian market will be a resounding success due to the area's overall appeal and entertainment capability to suit all market segments of corporate, convention, leisure, golf, spa, families and shopping."

Dusit is an internationally renowned Resort Operator listed on the Thai Stock Exchange and founded in 1948. It operates 24 Resorts, Hotels and Serviced Residences in Asia, the Middle East and the US.
