Nationwide Tour in Athens Georgia

The Nationwide Tour heads to the north east of Georgia this week for the Stadion Classic at the UGA being played at the University of Georgia Golf Club in Athens.

The tournament was first played in 2006 when won by Australian golfer Paul Gow although the venue then was at the Jennings Mill Country Club. The switch to the Robert Trent Jones Snr designed University of Georgia Golf Club's layout in 2010 saw Martin Piller win over Daniel Summerhays.

The Nationwide Tour's leading money winner in 2011 Mathew Goggin has scored himself a start on the PGA Tour this week but the other four of the leading five on the money list this season are in the field, headed by Daniel Chopra. Brenden Pappas, Brett Wetterich and last week's surprise winner Ted Potter make up those five.

Australasia is again strongly represented with eighteen players teeing it up. That list includes Danny Lee who is back from his successful campaign in Asia which included a second place finish at the Volvo China Open.

Aron Price has limited PGA Tour status but he will start in this event as will Peter Lonard who last week made his first cut of the year on the Nationwide Tour.
