Michael Hendry contends in Japan

The opening event of the 2015 Japan Golf Tour, the Token Homemate Cup, has completed 36 holes and it is Korean I.J. Jang who has taken the lead by one shot over New Zealander Michael Hendry and Japan's Daisuke Kataoka.

Jang, who played his last event at the New Zealand Open in March, is one of the more consistent performers on the Japan Tour and a two time winner although the last of those victories came three years ago at the Crowns Tournament.

Hendry, now into his third season on the Japan Tour, struggled for much of 2014, the arrival of his first child disrupting his season but now back and focused on the job ahead he has made a very good start to his opening event on the 2015 season in Japan.

Queenslander, Brad Kennedy, heads the Australians in 23rd place while rookie Won Joon Lee is next best in 23rd position.
