Australian golfer, Matt Jones, has been a late inclusion into the PGA Championship, his place in the field coming as a result of Tiger Woods' win at the WGC Bridgestone event last week.

A place was kept open in this week's field for the winner of the Bridgestone should it be a player not otherwise exempt at Oak Hill but with Woods victory came the opportunity for Jones to play his third major championship.

Jones, originally from Sydney but now a resident of Scottsdale after playing for Arizona State University during his collegiate career there, has had a good season on the PGA Tour this year already winning more than in any other season since first joining the Tour in 2008.

He finished runner-up at the recent Greenbrier Classic and 7th at the John Deere Classic taking his earnings for the year to US$1,227,000 and is currently 47th in the FedEx Cup standings.

For Jones this will be his third major championship start having played the 2009 US Open and the 2010 PGA Championship.
