Australian Matthew Griffin has finished 9th at the Japan Golf Tour’s Bridgestone Open in Chiba Prefecture, recording just his third top ten of the season when finishing seven shots behind the winner, Shugo Imahira.

Griffin moves to 23rd on the 2018 Japan Tour money list and although yet to win in Japan since joining that tour full time in 2015 he continues to perform well.

Of the other Australians Brendan Jones and Brad Kennedy tied for 29th, Kennedy battling over the weekend after beginning the event well while Anthony Quayle finished 37th and Scott Strange 49th.

Brad Kennedy remains as the leading Australian on this year's money list currently in 11th place with earnings of approx A$550,000

Imahira won his second Japan Tour title and now heads the money list this season. Although this was his first win of the season it was his fifth top five of the year, highlighting his outstanding consistency.

The Japan Tour now heads south to Hyogo Prefecture for this coming week’s Mynavi ABC Championship.
