I’VE said this plenty of times already in this series of instruction videos and I’m going to repeat it today: golf is a rotation sport and the better your ability to rotate around your spine the more efficient your swing and the less prone you’ll be to injury.
Today I want to show you a great exercise I like to get my clients to do which will really help to improve your stability and get the right muscles working to make the best swing possible.
First I want you to stand with one foot in front of the other so the toe of the back foot is touching the heel of the front foot.
In this position we’ve taken away lateral support which means you really have to control your spine and work the core muscles to maintain your balance.
Now to increase the challenge a bit hold your arms out in front of you and, keeping the eyes forward, rotate from side to side.
Try to maintain equal pressure in each foot while you’re doing this and I like my clients to do about ten with their feet own way then another 10 with their feet the other.
Maintaining balance while you’re doing this will be harder than you might think at first but if you can get really good at this exercise it will really help your golf swing.
To do this exercise well means the deep core muscles are really working well and your rotation around your spine is strong and efficient, all of which will help you sewing better on the course.
