As is the case with most LPGA events this season, nearly all of the Tour's leading players are in attendance, the stop start nature of the tour to date ensuring players take advantage of events when they are on.
Brittany Lincicome is the defending champion after her narrow one shot victory over Ai Miyazato and Jiyai Shin in 2011 while one of the current in form player on the LPGA Tour in 2012, Ai Miyazato, was the champion in 2010.
Lincicome's form has been a little inconsistent this season, finishing runner-up at the Australian Open and 4th at the Lotte Championship but missing two cuts also but this is clearly a golf course that suits her long hitting game.
Yani Tseng, Ai Miyazato, Na Yeon Choi, Suzann Pettersen and Cristie Kerr are other leading world ranked players in the field, Tseng having finished 14th and 7th in each of her last two starts in this event.
Tseng was knocked out in the round of 16 at the Sybase Match Play Championship two weeks ago and finished 10th at the Lotte event in Hawaii, but earlier in the season she was in outstanding form with three victories. It is hard to imagine she will not feature over the closing stages.
Australians in the field are Karrie Webb, Katherine Hull, Wendy Doolan and Sarah Jane Smith.
