Kuchar and Simpson have Sony Open lead

The Sony Open has completed 36 holes at the Waialae Country Club in Honolulu and playing partners over the first two rounds, Matt Kuchar and Webb Simson, share the lead.

The pair are at 12 under and two ahead of Tim Clark and troy Merritt.

Kuchar has produced several good finishes in this tournament of late and has played well enough in his most recent starts while Simpson, now using the short putter, has only one top ten in five starts in the event but in what is his first event since early December has made an excellent start to his post belly putter career.

Clark has a great record in this event having been runner-up on two occasions and clearly Waialae CC fits his eye.

Marc Leishman continues his recent good form in this event to lead the Australians in a share of 8th position and just four shots from the lead while Jason Day and Steve Bowditch are tied in 20th place six from the lead with Matt Jones, Stuart Appley and John Senden the other Australians to make the cut.
