Korda overcomes jaw surgery to record 5th LPGA title

Another good week for Minjee Lee who finished 4th.
Just two months after significant jaw surgery to remedy a problem with headaches, following which she did not hit a golf ball for six weeks, Jessica Korda has dominated the Honda LPGA Thailand event winning by four shots and securing her fifth LPGA Tour title in the process.

The surgery has proven successful with the headaches that were such a regular occurrence for Korda now gone and clearly her golf has not suffered one bit.

The 2012 Women's Australian open Champion led or shared the lead from her opening round of 66 and while she kept the door open for her chasers today with a sluggish opening nine she powered home over the closing few holes to win over Lexi Thompson and Moriya Jutanugarn.

Australia's Minjee Lee recovered from an early bogey to finish alone in 4th position, albeit three shots behind the pair tied in second and a massive seven shots from the leader.

World number one Shanshan Feng tied for 5th with Ariya Jutanugarn making it a memorable week for the Thai sisters in their home country.

Last week’s Women’s Australian Open champion Jin Young Ko was one of three players to shoot 64 on day four, finishing tied for 7th and continuing her meteoric rise on the LPGA Tour.

Sarah Jane Smith was 35th Katherine Kirk 40th and Su Oh 62nd in the 70 player field.

The LPGA Tour now heads south to Singapore for the HSBC Women’s World Championship at the Sentosa Golf Club.
