Karis Davidson records best finish on JLPGA Tour

Gold Coast based Karis Davidson has recorded her best finish of her rookie year on the Japan Ladies Tour with a 4th place finish at the Century 21 Ladies Tour Tournament.

The share of 4th place earns Davidson a cheque for close to A$60,000 and takes her earning for the season to just over A$160,000 and into 41st position on the lucrative but unheralded JLPGA Tour.

20-year old Davidson, born in Scotland but who played most of her amateur golf in Australia before turning professional last year, has now recorded four top tens in 15 starts in Japan but this is by some way her biggest cheque, made even bigger as the winner of the event was American amateur Kristen Gillman.

A final round of 70 was perhaps disappointing to Davidson as she had started the final day just one behind the then leader Sakura Koiwai although her result was impressive nonetheless.

Davidson is the only Australian playing on the JLPGA Tour.

20 year old Gillman is a University of Alabama star and a former US Amateur Champion who appears destined for great success in the professional game when she turns to the paid ranks. She won by four shots after a final round of 67.
