John Daly to drive cart at PGA Championship

John Daly will be the first player to use a cart in a men's major championship in 21 years.
John Daly will stick out like a sore thumb at next week's PGA Championship in New York but it is his right knee that seems to be causing him trouble.

The 53-year-old American has been allowed to use a cart at the Bethpage Black course due to his injured right knee which he says makes it extremely difficult to walk down hills.

Daly - who is exempt to play the PGA Championship as the 1991 winner - routinely uses a cart on the PGA Champions Tour where it is permitted.

His use of one at a men's major is particularly noteworthy because it hasn't happened since Casey Martin drove a cart at the 1998 US Open.

Under the PGA of America's Americans with Disabilities Act: "a disabled player or caddie may be permitted to use a golf cart as an accommodation to his or her disability for those events where golf carts are not allowed."

What do you think?
