After a year which has been highlighted by the stop start nature its events, the Japan Golf Tour this week begins a stretch of twelve consecutive tournaments to finish its 2015 season.

That stretch begins with the ANA Open at the Sapporo Golf Club in Hokkaido, an event that has been played at the same venue for more than 40 years.

Seven time winner of the event, Masashi (Jumbo) Ozaki, will at the age of 68, again play the event. Ozaki’s last of his 94 official Japan Golf Tour victories win came at this very event in 2002 and although he has not completed an event in more than two and a half years he will again tee it up this week.

The defending champion this week is Katsumasa Miyamoto who recorded a great year in 2014, winning not only this event but the season ending Golf Nippon Series.

Miyamoto has been solid if unspectacular this year recording only two top tens in thirteen starts.

Just two Australians have won this event previously namely Kurt Barnes in 2011 and Graham Marsh in 1979.

In 2015, Australia has Brad Kennedy, Brendan Jones, Matthew Griffin, Kurt Barnes, Won Joon Lee, Peter Wilson in the field. New Zealanders Michael Hendry and David Smail will also tee it up.
