ISG Podcast Ep. 36: Macpherson's Euro Tour Near Miss

A single shot over the course of a season can be the difference between playing in the big leagues and toiling in the minors and Bryden Macpherson can attest to how fine the margins are.

The 27-year-old Victorian joins The iSeekGolf Podcast as special guest for Episode 36 fresh off his runner-up finish at the final China Tour event of the season at the weekend, beaten in a two-hole play-off by local Bowen Xiao.

The second-place finish meant Macpherson, who had been locked in a tight battle for Order of Merit honours all season with Korea’s Rak Hyun Cho, came up less than $160 shy of top spot.

Had he won, he would have earned a European Tour card for 2018 but the result means he will be back in China next season plying his trade on both the China Tour and the revamped PGA Tour China.

Adding insult to injury, the tournament was also co-sanctioned with the Asian Tour and victory would also have locked up status on that circuit for 2018 also.

But Macpherson - who was also a special guest for Episode 14 of The iSeekGolf Podcast - isn’t one to dwell on what might have been and has already moved on from the double disappointment to figuring out how to do better next year.

He also gives some insight into Summer of Golf winners Jason Scrivener, Cameron Davis and Cameron Smith as well as his take in the comeback of Tiger Woods.
