Inbee Park takes final Evian Masters

Inbee Park is the 2012 Evian Masters Champion, birdies at her final three holes in today's final round leaving her two shots ahead of Karrie Webb and Stacy Lewis.

All three players finished off their rounds strongly. Park's closing three birdies were nearly matched by two consecutive birdies to finish by Webb and an eagle at the last by Lewis but Park had done enough to edge clear of her co-third round leader Lewis and the former winner Webb.

The 2008 US Open Champion Park has played both the Japan Ladies Tour and the LPGA Tour in the past two years and her success in Japan has helped revitalise her LPGA Tour career. She had not won on the LPGA Tour since her victory in 2008 but she has experienced considerable success in Japan.

Park won US$487,000 for her victory and moves to 7th on the 2012 money list.

Webb's weekend rounds of 67 and 67 moved her from 14th at the halfway point to joint 2nd, her best finish of the season.

Lindsey Wright finished 16th and earned her biggest cheque of the LPGA Tour season to date.

The Evian Masters is no longer, the event to become The Evian in years ahead and join the golfing world's major championships. The layout is to be ripped up and remodelled to accommodate its upgrade in status although to be fair the event has been considered one of the game's best for several years now.
