Howlong Golf Club President and Junior Golf Coach Ken Walton said; "We are delighted to accept this most prestigious award from Jack Newton Junior Golf. The support that we have received from Jack Newton Junior Golf has been outstanding and has enabled us to launch a very successful junior Golf Program." "This award recognises the hard work that our group of dedicated volunteers have put into our clinics." Mr Walton said.
The Club has Seven volunteer coaches; Michael Walker, Janet Rogers, Steve Coonan, Bill Tanks, Susan Tanks, Jan Wilson and Ken Walton who have each been through an Australian Institute of Sport Golf Training program.
JNJG CEO, Peter Van Wegen said;
"This year's awards were extra special with JNJG celebrating its 25th year anniversary. The Junior Club of the year Award recognises the work that the Howlong Country Golf Club has put into the development of their Junior Golf Program. The Club has added many interesting aspects to their program to create an exciting environment for the juniors to learn."
Howlong Country Golf Club General Manager Chris Rebbechi said "Jack Newton Junior Golf does an amazing job in promoting junior golf and we are very pleased to have been named as the Junior Golf Club of the year."
"The Junior Golf Program has gone from strength to strength; at our last clinic on Sunday 11th December we had 45 juniors participate in the program. One of the real achievements has been to make the game fun, Sunday's session saw Juniors take aim at Santa's basket for a hole in one!"
The awards just keep rolling in for Howlong and today they announced that they have been named as Golf Australia's inaugural My Golf Centre of Month. This comes after the Club in October was announced as a Finalist in the 2011 International Savewater Water Awards.
The My Golf Clinics run every fortnight throughout the year with a break over school holidays.
