The Final Stage of Asian Tour qualifying for the 2014 schedule is underway in Thailand and Victorian golfer Nathan Holman has made a brilliant start in his quest to have status on the Asian Tour in his rookie season as a professional.

Holman was round in 63 to lead by three over American Paul Peterson and Switzerland's Martin Rominger.

Holman, a high class amateur, turned professional late in 2013 and produced several good finishes in PGA Tour of Australia events including a 9th place finish at the Australian open, 14th at the Australian PGA Championship and 3rd at the W.A. Open.

Other Australians who have started well include Kunal Bhasin whose opening round of 68 has him in a share of 5th position as he tries to regain his playing privileges in Asia.

Blair Wilson and Lincoln Tighe are also tied for 5th with Basin. Jack Munro is 17th while Craig Hancock, Darren Beck, Martin Dive, Sam Brazel, Nick Cullen and Mitchell Brown are 32nd.

The leading 40 players earn cards for the 2014 Asian Tour.
