Herbert stars in Australian improvement

Victorian golfer Lucas Herbert has recorded a second round of 64 at the World Amateur Team's event in Karuizawa, Japan and has played a key role in the Australian team moving from 16th to 9th after the completion of 36 holes of the 72 hole event.

The Australian team of Herbert, Ryan Ruffels and Geoff Drakeford are five shots behind the leaders, Argentiana.

The USA, Switzerland and Canada are one shot behind the Argentineans

Herbert moved into second position outright on the individual leader board behind Sweden's Marcus Kinhult.

Herbert is currently Australia's second highest world ranked amateur and was today name in the ten man Australian squad to play the Asia Pacific Amateur Championship at Royal Melbourne in October.

Ruffels added a second round of 73 to his opening 68 while Drakeford has recorded rounds of 73 and 72.
