Hend plays OneAsia's Maekyung Open

The OneAsia Tour plays the third event of its ten tournament schedule this week when it stages the KW100,000,000 ($US1 million) GS Caltex Maekyung Open at the Namseoul Country Club in Seoul in South Korea.

This week's event is followed by the SK Telekom Open in Incheon just outside Seoul before a three month break until the inaugural Fiji International.

Defending champion is local Ryu Hyun-woo although the man who finished runner-up to him last year Kim Hyun Sung might start the favourite following his significant victory at the Crowns Tournament in Japan last week. Kim also finished runner-up in 2011 and is by far the leading world ranked player in the field.

Other recent winners of the event include Kim Bi-o and Kim Kyung Tae.

Scott Hend heads the Australians in the field playing a stand-alone One Asia Tour event for one of the very few times, now that there is no restriction by the Asian Tour on their players competing on the OneAsia Tour.

Other leading Australasians are Nick Cullen, Gareth Paddison, Matthew Griffin, Mark Brown and Ryan Fox who last week won a Charles Tour event in New Zealand.
