Harrison Wins Qld Indigenous Champs

Robin Harrison has won the 2012 Queensland Indigenous Championship at the Murgon Golf Club, in damp conditions on the final day of play.

Robin Harrison (Hervey Bay) fired a final round 75(+5) to join his first two round scores of 72 & 70 to finish 217 for the championship and complete his wire to wire victory. Despite bogeying the last three holes Harrison managed to hang on and edge out Black Water member Craig Dodd.

Dodd returned a final round score of 72(+2) to finish runner-up over the 54 holes. Craig's brother Rickie finished in third place nine shots of the pace. Rickie Dodd (Mt Warren Park) returned rounds of 74,73,79-226.

In the Nett category Nambour member Joseph Green manage to edge out Allen Wharton (Rowes Bay). Green finished with nett scores of 67,67,62 for 196 to edge out Wharton on the final round. Wharton finished with nett rounds of 63, 73,68 for 204.

In the senior category (55-60 yrs) Brian Harrison (Nudgee College) was successful after consistent scoring over the three days. Harrison returned rounds of 75,85 & 86 to be this year's Senior Champion.

Baily Kimber (Munduberra) won the Junior Nett division after returning rounds of 72,69,83.

Congratulations must go to the Volunteers and Staff of Murgon Golf Club for their hospitality and efforts in the lead up to and over the last few days of the 2012 Indigenous Championship. Thank you must also go to the Murgon and Cherbourg communities for their continued support throughout the event.
